Low-force, senior-adapted techniques · Serving Spokane Valley seniors since 2003
Getting older doesn't have to mean slowing down.
The aging process is inevitable, but losing your quality of life is not. Your nervous system still controls every function of your body, and it deserves the same attention at 70 as it did at 20.
- A short walk with the grandkids at Mirabeau Point that leaves your back stiff for the rest of the day.
- Balance that feels a little less sure than it used to, especially on stairs.
- A medicine cabinet that keeps growing, when what you really want is to need less of it.
- You want a provider who takes the time to explain things, not rush you through.
Why nerve function matters more as you age, not less.
Your brain and nervous system control and coordinate every function in your body, at every age. A subluxation - a spinal bone out of its normal position - can put pressure on nearby nerves and interfere with the signals that keep your muscles, joints, and organs working the way they should.
Dr. Tom has advanced training in senior-adult low-force techniques, built specifically for bodies that need a gentler touch. The goal is simple: help your body function as well as it can, so you can stay mobile and independent for as long as possible.
Chiropractic is not an alternative to your medications, and we never tell patients to stop or change a prescription. What we aim for is a body that functions well enough that those decisions become easier for you and your prescribing provider to make together.
How care works, one gentle visit at a time.
Scan
A painless COREscore scan shows how your nervous system is functioning right now, with real numbers you can track over time instead of guessing.
Plan
Dr. Tom builds a plan around your health history, your bone density, and your goals for staying active, and explains it in plain language before anything happens.
Gentle, effective visits
Low-force adjustments, comfortable positioning, and a pace that respects your body, with re-scans so you can see your progress along the way.
“Health, wellness and longevity is not about reaching a magical destination or even living into your hundreds. It’s about the quality of your life while you are here.”
“Dr. Tom is the best chiropractor and family doctor we have ever had. He treats our whole family, from our toddler to my mother.”
Questions seniors and their families ask us.
Is chiropractic care safe for seniors with arthritis or osteoporosis?
Dr. Tom has advanced training in low-force techniques built for senior-adult care. Adjustments are adapted to your bone health, joint condition, and comfort, and we will always tell you plainly if something needs a different kind of care first.
Can chiropractic help with balance and mobility?
Mobility depends on your joints and muscles moving well, and on the nerves that control them working without interference. Many seniors under regular care report better mobility and more confidence getting around, whether that is the Centennial Trail or the stairs at home.
Will chiropractic care let me stop taking my medications?
No, and we will never tell you to stop or change a prescription. Chiropractic is not an alternative to medication. Our goal is to help your body function as well as it can; any decision about reducing medication is always between you and the prescribing provider.
What does a gentle, low-force adjustment feel like?
Senior-adult techniques use light, precise pressure, often with a hand-held instrument, rather than the twisting motions people picture. Most patients describe it as comfortable and relieving.
How often should a senior get adjusted?
It depends on your COREscore scan and your goals. Some seniors come in for regular maintenance care every few weeks; others check in less often once things are stable. Dr. Tom builds the schedule around you, not a one-size-fits-all plan.
